Be Sure Before You Buy
Saving money is great, but not at the expense of the safety, health and peace-of-mind for you and your family.
So before you put any type of flooring in your home, remember to ask these key questions.
Is the carpet certified
safe for indoor use?
Look for products with Low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) certifications, which indicate reduced emissions of toxic substances, contributing to a healthier indoor environment.
Is the carpet
environmentally friendly?
Choosing carpet tiles made from sustainable materials not only benefits the environment but also often reflects higher quality standards. Look for ISO, and/or Green Label certifications.
Will the carpet retain
it’s colour and lustre?
Exposure to sunlight can cause some carpet tiles to fade. Carpets that are made of nylon or wool yarns are much better in retaining their appearance, even with sunlight exposure.
Is the carpet suitable
for high-traffic areas?
Consider products made from strong fibers like nylon or wool, which are known for their resilience and longevity. Additionally, check the product’s density and twist level; the higher the number the higher the quality.
Is the carpet
easy to maintain?
Choose carpets and rugs with stain-resistant treatments and materials that are easy to clean. Wool is naturally stain-resistant, while synthetic fibers like polyester often come with stain-resistant finishes.
Does the carpet size
fit your space?
Ensure the carpet or rug complements your existing décor and fits well within the intended space. Rugs for example, should extend under all furniture pieces in the conversation area to avoid making the room appear small.
Does it come with
a warranty or guarantee?
High quality carpets are backed by manufacturers warranty. Look for warranties that cover both residential and commercial spaces, at least 5 years for commercial and 10 years for residential.
